2 Digit Addition with Carry Over Examples
Example 1.
Add 48 and 26
Solution:
The given numbers are 48 and 26.
(i) Add digits at one’s place first i.e. 8 ones + 6 ones = 14 ones.
14 ones = 10 ones and 4 ones.
10 ones = 1 ten.
(ii) 1 (one) ten is carried over to ten’s side.
(iii) Now, add digits at tens place i.e., 4 tens + 2 tens = 6 tens.
To this sum i.e., 6 tens, the carried over 1 ten is also added.
Thus, 6 tens + 1 ten = 7 tens.
(iv) Therefore, the sum is 7 tens and 4 ones, i.e., 74.
Example 2.
Add 76 and 58.
Solution:
The given numbers are 76 and 58.
(i) Add digits at one’s place first i.e. 6 ones + 8 ones = 14 ones.
14 ones = 10 ones and 4 ones.
10 ones = 1 ten.
(ii) 1 (one) ten is carried over to ten’s side.
(iii) Now, add digits at tens place i.e., 7 tens + 5 tens = 12 tens.
To this sum i.e., 12 tens, the carried over 1 ten is also added.
Thus, 12 tens + 1 ten = 13 tens.

Add 26 and 47
Solution:
The given numbers are 26 and 47.
