Order of Numbers | How to Put Numbers in Numerical Order on a Number Line?

In this article, you will learn how to order numbers in a number line. A number line can be used to represent any real numbers that include zero (0) and numbers i.e,1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, ….. and so on.  Number line means Pictorial representation of numbers on a straight line. If numbers are placed on a number line it is very easy to find the other numerical order numbers.

On this page, we will discuss how to order numbers in a number line, some example questions on how to order numbers. Take reference from the Chronological Order of Numbers Examples provided here and find the before and after numbers for a given number on the number line easily.

Order of Numbers | How to Order a List of Numbers on a Number Line?

A number line can be extended to infinity on both sides of the line. In a number line, numbers are represented in the form of order that is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and so on. Now, we can see the example of how to represent the order of numbers on a number line. The example figure is given as below,

Example Problems on Order of Number

Example 1:
Write the answer to the below-given figure. In between 6 and 8 question mark is there, which order number comes in that place?

Solution:
The given Figure includes the Ordering of Numbers represented on a Number Line.
In that figure, in between 6 and 8, a number is missed.
Now, we need to find which number comes in that place.
So, the number after 6 and before 8 is 7.
Therefore, in place of the question mark, the ordered number is 7.

Example 2:
Write the missing number in the below-given figure. The figure consists of the ordering of numbers represented on a number line and some number options. Check whether the number is present in the given option numbers or not?
Solution:
The given question consists of the ordering of numbers represented on a number line
The given option numbers are 4, 7, 5.
Now, we need to find the missing number in that given figure.
In the given figure, in between 3 and 5 the number is missed,
So, the number after 3 and before 5 is 4.
Therefore, the missing number is 4. Among the given options, the number 4 is present.

Example 3:
The below figure consists of two missing numbers questions with respect to the numbers option. Find the missing numbers?

Solution:
In the given question, two missing numbers figures are there.
Now, we need to find the value of that questions.
(i) In the given question,
In between 330 and 334, the numbers are missed and the question mark is placed.
So the number after 330 is 331, but 331 is not written. Count the scale line as 331 and next 332, and next number is 333 and the last number of the figure is 334.
Therefore, 332 is the number in place of the question mark. So, option ‘B’ is correct.

(ii) In the given question,
In between 324 and 330, the numbers are missed and the question mark will be there. Now we should find the missing number in that question.
So the number after 324 is 325, but 331 is not written. Count the scale line as 325, 326, 327, and the next number is 328, and next number is 329 and the next number of the figure is 330.
Therefore, 327 is the number in place of the question mark. So, option ‘D’ is correct.

Example 4:
Find the missing numbers in the below figure.

Solution:
The given Figure includes the Ordering of Numbers represented on a Number Line.
In that figure, before 14 and after 14 the order of numbers is missed.
Now, we need to find which numbers come in the place of the question mark.
So, the number after 12 and before 14 is 13. The number after 14 and before 16 is 15.
Therefore, in place of the question marks, the ordered numbers are 13 and 15.

Example 5:
The below figure consists of an ordering of numbers represented on a number line. Find the order numbers which come in place of the question mark?

Solution:
The given figure includes the ordering of numbers represented on a Number Line.
We can observe in the given figure, 3 numbers are missed. The question marks will be present in the place of that missing numbers.
Now, we need to find which numbers are coming in place of the question mark.
So, the number after 33 and before 35 is 34. The number after 38 and before 40 is 39 and the number after 40 is 41.
Therefore, in place of the question marks, the ordered numbers are 34, 39, and 41.
