Example 1.
Suppose a man had 5 balls, he started playing with them and threw 2 balls. How many balls are left with him in total?
Solution:
We know when 2 balls are taken from 5 balls three balls will be left. Therefore, the answer to the question is 3 balls.
Subtraction of 2 from 5 can be written in the following way too
