Given,
Points lost for each wrong answer is -3.
The total no. of points lost by Jahnavi is -36.
The total no. of points lost by Madhavi is -54 points.

Jahnavi answered questions wrongly=-36 ÷ -3=12
Madhavi answered questions wrongly=-54 ÷ -3=18
18>12

VII. If the temperature changed at a rate of -2°C per hour, then after how many hours did the temperature reached -14°C?

Solution:

Given,
Temperature change=-2°C per hour
No. of hours for the temperature to reach from -2°C  to  -14°C is=-14°C/-2°C
=7 hours
Hence, For 7 hours the temperature reached -2°C to -14°C.


VIII. Three friends each have their own savings. They borrow Rs1080 from their parents for flight tickets. Each brother must pay back an equal share of this amount. Also, the youngest brother owes his parents Rs150. By how much will the youngest brother’s savings change after he pays his parents?

Solution:

Given,
Three friends borrowed from their parents=Rs -1080
Each brother must pay back an equal share of this amount=Rs -1080/3=-360
The youngest brother owes his parents =Rs-150
Then add -150 to one of these equal parts.
Change to younger brother savings=-360 +(-150)=-360-150=-510
Therefore, the younger brother’s savings will be decreased by  Rs 510.
