Solution:

Given,
Ram has the money in the bank account=Rs 5000
He Withdraw=Rs -2000
The money he has in the bank account=Rs 5000 -Rs 2000=Rs 3000
Therefore, the money he has in the bank account=Rs 3000.


IX. A submarine was situated 800 feet below sea level. If it ascends 250 feet, what is its new position?

Solution:

Given,
A submarine was situated below sea level=800 feet
Submarine ascends=-250 feet
Position of Submarine=800-250=550 feet below sea level.


X. Manasa owes Rs 3500 to the cloth store. Each of 7 friends will help her pay off her debt. How much will each friend pay?

Solution:

Given,
Manasa owes money=Rs -3500
No. of friends=7
To find the money paid by each friend we divide 3500 by 7.
So the amount each friend has to pay=Rs -3500/7=Rs 500
Therefore, Each friend pays the amount of Rs -500.
