Example 1:
Add 4 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds and 2 hours 10 minutes 15 seconds?
Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 4 + 2 = 6 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 20 + 10 = 30 minutes
Step 3:Add the seconds together, we get 30 + 15= 45 seconds
Therefore, the result of the addition is 6 hours 30 minutes 45 seconds.
Example 2:
Add 5 hours 40 minutes 30 seconds and 2 hours 30 minutes 44 seconds.
Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 5 + 2 =7 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 40 + 30 = 70 minutes,
As the number of minutes is more than 60, subtract 60 minutes from that (70) we get 10 minutes and increase the number of hours by 1 i.e 7 + 1 = 8 hours
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 30 + 44 = 74 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (74) we get 14 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 10 + 1 = 11 minutes
Therefore, the result is 8 hours 11 minutes 14 seconds.
Example 3:
Add 4 hours 45 minutes 40 seconds and 3 hours 45 minutes 30 seconds.
Solution:
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 45 + 45 = 90 minutes,
As the number of minutes is more than 60, subtract 60 minutes from that (90) we get 30 minutes and increase the number of hours by 1 i.e 7 + 1 = 8 hours
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 30 + 40 = 70 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (70) we get 10 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 30 + 1 = 31 minutes
Therefore, the result is 8 hours 31 minutes 10 seconds.
Example 4:
Add 2 hours 20 minutes 29 seconds + 7 hours 28 minutes 45 seconds
Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 2 + 7 =10 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 20 + 28 = 48 minutes,
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 29 + 45 = 74 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (74) we get 14 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 48 + 1 = 49 minutes
Therefore, the result is 10 hours 49 minutes 14 seconds.
Example 5:
Add 8 hr 35 min 40 sec, 3 hr 50 min 27 sec
Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 8+ 3 =11 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 35 + 50 = 85 minutes,
As the number of minutes is more than 60, subtract 60 minutes from that (85) we get 25 minutes and increase the number of hours by 1 i.e 11 + 1 = 12 hours
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 40 + 27 = 67 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (67) we get 7 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 25 + 1 = 26 minutes

Example 6:
Find the time 14 hours 46 minutes 54 seconds + 9 hours 24 minutes 14 seconds
Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 14+ 9 =23 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 46 + 24 = 70 minutes,
As the number of minutes is more than 60, subtract 60 minutes from that (70) we get 10minutes and increase the number of hours by 1 i.e 23 + 1 = 24 hours
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 54 + 14 = 68 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (67) we get 8 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 10 + 1 = 11 minutes

Example 7:
Find the time 11 hours 26 minutes 34 seconds + 11 hours 04 minutes 32 seconds.
Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 11+ 11 =22 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 26 + 04 = 30 minutes,
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 34 + 32 = 66 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (66) we get 6 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 30 + 1 = 31 minutes.

Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 42+ 25 =67 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 50 + 16 = 66 minutes,
As the number of minutes is more than 60, subtract 60 minutes from that (66) we get 6minutes and increase the number of hours by 1 i.e 67 + 1 = 68 hours
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 29 + 46 = 75 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (75) we get 15 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 6 + 1 = 7 minutes

Example 9:
Find the time 28 hr. 42 min. 46 sec. + 20 hr. 19 min. 49 sec
Solution:
Step 1: Add the hours together, we get 28+ 20 =48 hours
Step 2: Add the minutes together, we get 42 + 19 = 61 minutes,
As the number of minutes is more than 60, subtract 60 minutes from that (61) we get 1 minute and increase the number of hours by 1 i.e 48 + 1 = 49 hours
Step 3: Add the second together, we get 46 + 49 = 95 seconds.
As the number of seconds is more than 60, subtract 60 seconds from that (95) we get 35 seconds and increase the number of minutes by 1 i.e 1 + 1 = 2 minutes
Therefore, the time is 49 hours 02 minutes 35 seconds.
Example 10:
Ram leaves home at 4:30 p.m. It takes 1 hr. 25 min to reach the playground. At what time will he reach the playground?
Solution:
Ram leaves home= 4.30 p.m
The time takes to reach the play ground= 1 hr 25 min
The time takes to reach the playground from home= 4.30 p.m + 1 hr 25 min
Add the hours together=4+1=5
Add the minutes together=30+25=55
Therefore, Ram will reach the playground at 5.55 p.m
Example 11:
Sarath went to the market at 3.10 p.m. He bought groceries and returned home after 2 hours. At what time he will reach home?
Solution:
Sarath went to the market at 3.10 p.m
The time taken to reach home= 3.10 + 2.00
=5.10 p.m
Therefore, At 5.10 p.m Sarath reached home.
Example 12:
Sagar went to Mumbai by traveling 3.30 hrs by train. And then he went home by traveling 30 minutes by auto. Calculate the time he spent travelling to his home?
Solution:
Time spent by Sagar to travel his home=3.30 + 30
=04.00
Hence, the time spent by Sagar to travel home is 4 hours.
